Dr. Katherine (Kate) Gallager
Clinical Psychologist PhD/MPsych: BA (Psych) Hons: MAPS: BA (Nursing) Kate's experience lies in the area of health psychology and assisting individuals, along with their families to be happier, healthier and feel more empowered. Kate has a combined Masters/PhD qualification in Clinical Psychology, a Degree in Nursing and a background in education. She has worked within the private and public healthcare system for over 28 years in both Western Australia and Victoria.

Kate has extensive expertise in supporting her clients through the various challenges that many of us face, especially in today's society. This includes but is not limited to: stress, anxiety, low mood, adjusting to change, career uncertainty, carer/compassion fatigue, interpersonal issues, performance pressure (i.e., elite sport, exam stress, public speaking), low self-esteem & difficulties within relationships and compensation/injury claims.
Kate's Clinical Psychology PhD research also explored ways in which to help improve the resilience, psychological wellbeing and quality of life among those diagnosed with cancer. She is passionate about assisting individuals who live with any chronic illness, injury or disability, so that they may enjoy a fulfilling and meaningful life. This includes providing support for families and carers of those with acute/chronic or terminal illness and during bereavement.
Kate presents at workshops/conferences and contributes to psycho-oncology research.
Her therapy style is client-centred ensuring each individual enjoys a positive experience that meets their specific needs and at a pace in which they feel comfortable.
Therapy can be accessed in the following ways:
Face-to face appointments are encouraged however Telehealth services (via online video or telephone) are also available and offered as an alternative (i.e., for those unable to attend their appointment or those who live remotely).
Kate is registered with APHRA and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

- A current doctors referral under Medicare on the Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or;
- Independently (i.e., private health funds if applicable) for which a doctor referral is not usually required or;
- An approved Insurance or Work Cover claim (please enquire if you feel you may be eligible) or:
- National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) self or plan managed.
